Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Fri Jun 5 08:20:26 2026 Tuscarora Almanac for June 5 1878 – from The Book of First Runs The Gilbert Elevated Railway begins of the 6th Avenue EL between 58th Street and Rector Street. 1916 – from The Book of Last Runs Park Avenue station on the Broadway-Brooklyn Line is closed. It was located between Flushing Avenue and Myrtle Avenue stations. 1953 – from The Book of Last Runs This is the last day of mainline steam passenger operation on the Lackawanna Railroad. The final run is made by Pacific 1121on train No. 1067, a Hoboken to Dover run. Steam locomotives will continue switching duties in the Scranton (PA) Yard until the coal bunkers run out, sometime in July. 1978 – from The Book of First Runs SEPTA extends passenger service from Bethlehem to Allentown, Pennsylvania using RDC cars.
