Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Thu May 14 10:01:56 2026 Tuscarora Almanac for May 14 1885 – from The Book of First Runs The Lexington Avenue El begins operation between Washington-York Streets and Gates Avenue-Broadway. 1924 for The Book of Last Runs The Long Island Railroad discontinues service on the Manhattan Beach Branch. 1927 – from The Book of First Runs The IRT Corona Line is extended from 111 Street to Willets Point Boulevard. 1934 – from The Book of First Runs The five section articulated train known as the "Green Hornet” was delivered today to the 38 Street Docks in Brooklyn. It was built by the Pullman-Standard Car Manufacturing Company. After testing it will enter revenue service on the #13 Fulton Street Line. The car is numbered 7000A-8000B-9000C-8001B-7001A. (They will be re-numbered 7003 A,B,C,B1,A1 in 1937). 1948 – from The Book of Last Runs This is the last day for streetcar service in Providence, RI. 1971 – from The Book of First Runs The last of 620 M-1 “Metropolitan” electric MU cars enter service on the Long Island Railroad.
