I completely agree. Chambers is an important time capsule, a living look at transit needs of years past. The closed side platform, the extra middle platforms, the closed stairways, the faded signs on the pillars referencing the IRT lines, the abandoned tunnel structure above the station intending to connect to Brooklyn Bridge...all of these hearken back to a time when the subway was much more important and much more interwoven with the NYC public than it is today. |
