Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Tue Mar 24 10:29:43 2026 Tuscarora Almanac for March 24/25 1959 – from The Book of Last Runs March 24, 1959 will be the last full day of New York Central ferry service across the Hudson River. The Weehawken-Cortlandt Street route was a peak hour only service. The final run is made by the ferryboat STONY POINT. The Weehawken-West 42nd Street crossing was a full time service. The final runs were made in the early morning hours of March 25. The UTICA made the last westbound crossing while the WEEHAWKEN closed out the service with last eastbound run. Larry, RedbirdR33 After the ferry ceased operation no connecting service was provided. Passengers had to climb 240 steps to the top of the Palisades to board a bus for New York City. |
