Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Sun Mar 15 14:50:59 2026 Tuscarora Almanac for March 15 1906 – from The Book of First Runs The Philadelphia & Garrettford Street Railway begins trolley service between the 69th Street Terminal in Upper Darby and Clifton Heights, Pennsylvania. Service is extended to Sharon Hill on August1, 1917. Today this is SEPTA’s Sharon Hill Line. 1965 – from The Book of First Runs The new PATH PA-1 cars 600, 100 and 601 made test runs today on the Long Island Railroad. They operated on the Mainline between Jamaica and Woodside. They were hauled out to Long Island City by GG-1 4862. On or about this date Class K (formerly MP-51) 1210 is converted from a single ended to a double ended car. Also about this time a six car train of the “Old Black Cars” is given a refurbishment and painted dark blue. The cars are 407, 438, 439, 472, 501 and 516. 1989 – from The Book of Wrecks The Intervale Avenue-163rd Street Station is temporarily closed after being damaged by a fire set by vandals. (This station is located on the White Plains Road Line between Simpson Street and Prospect Avenue stations). 1991 – from The Book of Last Runs This is the last day of RDC operation on the Port Jervis Line . The final run was made by RDC-1's 43 and 65 on Train No. 55, a Suffern to Port Jervis local. 1998 – from The Book of Last Runs The Long Island Railroad closes three stations today all of which are on the Montauk Branch; Center Moriches, Quogue and Southhampton Campus.
