'MM' was to have been a Sixth Avenue-Myrtle Avenue line, to be instituted at or after the 'KK' moniker was rearranged to the 6th Avneue-Jamaica route. The color of the 'MM' was to be green. Though its route was ultimately a variation of the KK (as a variation to Rockaway Parkway), I always saw an irony in that given the post-2010 M's rerouting along Sixth Avenue, and especially the recent service changes that switched the M north of 47th-50th Street/Rockefeller Center to the 63d Street tunnel, as the MM's terminus was to have been 57th Street.The R-27's roll signs also began what some would call the "creeping Manhattanization" of the BMT's route descriptions, though initially they were combined with their old Brooklyn orientations. (Of course, by the time the R-32's first entered service, this "Manhattanization" was all but complete. |
