Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Sun Mar 8 10:59:06 2026 Tuscarora Almanac for March 8 1975 – from The Book of Last Runs This is the last day for trackless trolley service in Calgary, Alberta. 2017 – from The Book of Wrecks A southbound CSX River Line freight train derailed in Newburgh at a point where the railroad runs alongside River Road near the Diesel Direct Fuel Terminal. A hi-lo boom tractor from the nearby Steelways Shipyard was fouling the track when it was struck by the train. All three engines and fourteen of seventy seven cars derailed. Fortunately there were only a few minor injuries. The lead engine was 5281, an ES40 DC and the second engine was 6157, a GP40-2. The River Line and River Road will likely be closed for some days.
