IIRC in the mid 70s an R36WF car was severely damaged when a ventilation shaft/duct work fell in on a door as a Flushing bound train was passing thru the Steinway tunnel. The fallen object crushed thru a door leaf of the first car as the train was passing over the switches under 1st Ave. The poor soul that was standing against that particular door leaf was killed in the incident. |
