There are some more interesting examples of solid trains. When the R-12's were in service on the Third Avenue El they ran in solid four car trains. When the Willy B was closed in 1999 the was an "S" Shuttle service between Essex Street and Broad Street. They ran solid four car trains of R-40 M. During the General Overhaul period for the Flushing Line R-33 (MP) were sent over from the mainland to help cover the service. They ran in eleven cars train with their single unit brethren. This is the only time that I know of that this occurred. Larry, RedbirdR33 |
