Posted by Jersey Mike on Mon Dec 22 15:16:44 2025 In December 2024 I seemed to have a lot going on in the way of local travel with trips to both Washington, DC and Philly via the NEC and holiday related excursions to the MARC stations at Savage and Brunswick for the purposes of drinking. I have assembled all this miscellany into a single set of photos ( mirror ).My day trip to DC kicked off before sunrise at the Halethorpe MARC station, later passing through Washington Union Station en-route to the DC Metro. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Returning home I actually got a better deal on an Amtrak train, which was departing Washington Union Station adjacent to the Acela platform where a Classic set was standing with power cars #2017 and #2036. ![]() ![]() Arriving at BWI I was in time to catch a southbound MARC train with MP36PH-3C #29 ![]() My car was still at Hapethorpe I had a friend shuttle me over. Between the two stations I shot a few quick videos which include: Northbound Acela Express with power cars #2028 and #2007. Southbound bi-level MARC Penn Line train with cab car #7853 and MP36PH-3C #29. Amtrak Veterans ACS-86 #642 heading northbound with a Regional at Halethorpe. Southbound MARC bi-level Penn Line train passing express through the Halethorpe station. A few days later I was making a day trip up to Philly and back at BWI I caught Amtrak ACS-86's #634 heading south while class unit #600 was heading my northbound. ![]() ![]() The trainset was flipped so I had access to the rear window, but the position of the sun combined with dirty windows made the view highly marginal. I only got this video as the train runs across the Susquehanna River between the Aberdeen, Maryland station and PRINCE interlockings near Perryville. The Susquehanna River bridge, constructed in 1906, is unfortunately slated for replacement in the upcoming years. In the video my train passes southbounds including Crescent Train 19 just past GRACE interlocking and another Regional at PRINCE. Arriving Haddonfield with PATCO rebuild car #1039. ![]() Some time after that I wanted to check out the ostensibly Railfan themed Notch 8 Brewing adjacent to the Savage MARC station on the CSX Capitol Sub. I got there in daylight where a westbound MARC Camden Line train pulled in with cab car #7761 and MP36PH-3C #34, meeting an eastbound with sibling MP36PH-3C #33 and cab car #8057. ![]() ![]() After a few pints the sun was set and I caught another pair of MARC single level Camden Line trains with MP36PH-3C's #12 and #14. Heading out on the road I paid a visit to Brunswick, MD on a weekend so the only thing moving was CSX freight trains. First up was CSX ES44AH #3014 on an eastbound manifest passing SD70MAC #4563 passing a doublestack trains on the #4 yard track. A second SD70MAC, #4738, was acting as a DPU coupled to ES44AH #805. ![]() ![]() The Brunswick Yard engine terminal has a bunch of interesting units that day. CSX AC4400 #492 was coupled up to fellow AC4400 #148, still in its YN2 paint scheme. Further away CSX ES44AH #782 was standing next to BNSF ES44C4 #6928. #6828 was actually coupled to a Warbonnet GE of known number. A second BNSF ES44C4, #6321, was also hiding back there. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() If you remember that intermodal train on the arrival track SD70MAC #4563 was standing ahead of CSX AC4400 #573. ![]() WB Tower is now in its new location, but was surrounded by a construction net so I didn't venture up the new stairway. ![]() ![]() Just as I was preparing to leave an eastbound CSX double stack intermodal train passed the MARC Brunswick Station on track #1. Motive power consisted of ES44AC #865 and C40-10W's #5205 and #5472. That's all for my December 2024 local railfanning. Check back next time as I head back up to South Jersey for the holidays. |
