Posted by W.B. on Tue Dec 16 16:48:50 2025 December 11, 1988 - The Book of Route Renumberings Brooklyn and Queens, New York New York City Transit Authority Brooklyn and Queens Bus Divisions Effective as of this date, the following Brooklyn bus routes are transferred to Queens and renumbered thus, in anticipation of the opening of the Archer Avenue subway extension: - B22 - Atlantic Avenue - to Q24 - Broadway Junction/Jamaica - B53 - Metropolitan Avenue-Grand Street - to Q54 - B55 - Myrtle Avenue - to Q55 - B56 - Jamaica Avenue - to Q56 - B58 - Fresh Pond Road-Grand Avenue-Corona Avenue - to Q58 - B59 - Grand Avenue-Grand Street - to Q59 In addition, the following rotes already in Queens have their numbers changed thus: - Q3A - to Q83 - Q4A - to Q84 - Q5S - to Q86 - Q17A - to Q30 There are also route extensions to the Q17 (from the Jamaica Bus Terminal to Archer Avenue and Merrick Boulevard), Q31 (from Jamaica Avenue and 169th Street to Sutphin Boulevard and Archer Avenue) and Q75 (to the Jamaica Bus Terminal). Finally, the Q49-J Train Shuttle, which ran since the truncation of the J subway line's route to 121st Street, is discontinued with this extension.
