Speaking of which, I didn't notice those huge signs initially, believe it or not. We were waiting at 34th St.-Herald Square when a new slant Fred train pulled in. My mother remarked, "That's an F train," and I asked, "How can you tell?" She pointed out the large magenta F. I had gotten so used to looking above the storm door for route and destination signs that I totally missed it. My sister liked the slants even though she is definitely not a subway buff, as we rode that train one stop to 42nd St., where we changed to a D. |
