Posted by Jersey Mike on Tue Nov 18 12:42:22 2025 Last November I spotted this tarped railcar moving along PA Route 42 in Catawissa, PA. It was most likely being transported from one of the Southern Tier railcar plants (Hormel, Elmira, etc) to Philadelphia or New York as state routes 42 and 61 can be used to avoid the expensive PA Turnpike extension, especially for a trailer with 6 axles! I first assumed it was a BART car, but later realized the shape is wrong. It appears to have the length and inset end door of an NYCTA subway car, but I am not sure what would have been outshopped by the Alstom or CAF plants at that time. Does anyone have any idea what this was?
