Real estate developers pay that tax money and the existing property owners benefit from the increased property values.The MTA is rife with problems but it's essentially impossible to have non-socialized construction of public transportation infrastructure. Even the original IRT was built by the city even if they had a private operator operate the built product. That was a better model than what we have now, though. I disagree with you that this wouldn't have significant value. I also disagree about this harming QOL. Better transit improves QOL. |
