It also promotes economic development. I like to think of the concept of the geographic reservation wage: People are unwilling to take jobs that are too inconvenient to commute to. Make more possible commutes more convenient and people take those jobs.There's also economic activity generated from discretionary trips. Additionally, there's also a delay between travel options becoming available and people making use of those travel options. So UES ridership in 2017 is not a meaningful metric. |
