In February of 1948, our family went to Washington. Lincoln's birthday was on Thursday. In darkness that Friday, Dad brought me on route 10, Benning Road to Kenilworth. At the terminal, the PCC backed into an alley to reverse. We did not explore Route 12, Seat Pleasant. We met Mom and sister downtown and returned to Burlington Hotel near Thomas Circle. I am uncertain where the west terminals of 10 and 12 were, maybe Roslyn or Potomac Park. Dad had purchased two weekly passes, price, I think, 50 cents. We rode most of the lines, except the 60. |
