Sad in some ways:As I have said before, If the connection to the 4th Avenue via Culver were rebuilt, I would do it today where on the southbound side of Ditmas you had the exact same setup as was the case when the shuttle ran from 1954-'75 while on the northbound side trains headed that way would go to a new upper level of Ditmas Avenue with the northbound track crossing above the other tracks. Between Ditmas and 9th Avenue, the line would likely be two levels of single track, to Manhattan/railroad north on the upper level, from Manhattan/railroad south on the lower level until just before 9th Avenue lower level to the south. This I'd do as an extension of the (W) into a full-time line to Astoria and Stilwell though possibly cut back late nights to Whitehall with the (R) (also possibly run late nights as a shuttle between Ditmas and 9th Avenue or Whitehall). |
