I remember after the Worlds Fair they had post rush hr expresses from Main St to TS called "Shoppers Specials" to encourage the use of the expresses for shopping in Manhattan. Last express left round 12N IIRC. That didn't sit too well with the merchants along Main St and up Roosevelt Ave. They felt that the service would cut into their business. The TA caved (sort of) by dropping the name "Shoppers Special" but kept the service anyway, at least until the next budgetary service cutback. |
