Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Tue Oct 14 14:47:03 2025 Tuscarora Almanac for October 14 1946 – from The Book of First Runs Express service begins on the IRT Pelham Line between East 177th Street and 3rd Avenue with a stop at Hunts Point Avenue. The trains are referred to as “Local-Expresses”. 1949 – from The Book of Last Runs This is the last day of operation for the BMT Q-Types on the Flushing Line. 1950 – from The Book of Last Runs Wilkes-Barre, PA converts its last two streetcar lines to trackless trolley operation. 1980 – from The Book of First Runs The New Jersey Transit Corporation takes over the bus and light rail lines of Transport of New Jersey. 1981 – from The Book of Last Runs The Aqueduct Special is discontinued. It had run for the spring meet but was not renewed for the fall meet which began on October 14. Trains had displayed route letter “S”. 1990 – from The Book of Last Runs The Port Authority Trans-Hudson Corporation closes the former H&M Henderson Street Yard in Jersey City.
