Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Fri Sep 26 09:28:08 2025 Tuscarora Almanac for September 26 1931 – from The Book of Last Runs On or about this date the New Haven Railroad ends local passenger service on the Harlem River Branch. 1960 –from The Book of Last Runs This is the final day of streetcar operation in Johnstown , Pennsylvania. Several Johnstown trolleys were preserved and some are in operation at various trolley museums; 350 at the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum, 352 at Wheaton, MD, 355 at Rockhill, 356 and 357 at Shoreline in East Haven, CT and 358 at Kingston, NY. Mr. William Wall provided me with the following information: Car 351 is in San Francisco with the Market Street Railway Group. Car 362 is owned by the JohnstownArea Heritage Association. Car 352 was destroyed in the fire at the National Capital Trolley Museum on September 28, 2003. 1963 – from The Book of First Runs The first train of the new World’s Fair cars, R-33 and R-36 enters service on the Flushing Line. There were painted in a blue and white scheme and were known as the “Bluebirds”. They differed from the mainline “Redbirds” in having large picture windows. Larry, RedbirdR33 |
