You may consider passenger rail a luxury, i consider it a preferable mode of travel. I will go from Oakland to San luis Obispo for Thanksgiving with the greater family as most years. Easy bus transit from home to a choice of Amtrak Stations. No airport stupidity, far more comfortable seats and far nicer than a bus getting stuck in rraffic. So my vote goes for federal subsidy for rail RRs were originally chartered for the 'public necessity and convenience'. |
