No, that's not what I meant, and I don't think it's what I typed. Maybe I wasn't clear, lemme try again:Deporting people who are here illegally reduced crime by more than the number of actual criminals among the deported that's the (disproportionate). * My hunch is that is 2 or 3 categories of people may have changed their behavior: People here illegally that are here mostly for crime and people here illegally but mostly for work who like to sometimes see what they can get away with and people here legally but have an open warrant out somewhere which the city makes less than zero effort to enforce So crime may have gone down because - criminals were deported and also - because a larger group or groups of people who weren't deported changed their behavior I can't prove any of that, but that's my story and I'm stickin' to it * Yes, breaking immigration law is a crime, often several as 'stuff happens' along the way. But I'm using 'criminal' to mean people doing ---t in addition to jumping the immigration line. |
