Was a special adapter used to allow these two different car types to mate up? If so, what does it look like?

The photos below is when the R-46's were being delivered on the Brooklyn car float dock. (August 9, 1977).
The compromise adapter being carried adapts the R-46 Ohio Brass coupler to the knuckle coupler for the NY Dock Rwy switcher.
The adapter used in the photo I took would be for an Ohio Brass to H-2. Train Dude would know more about this.
