Graffiti culture |
|
Posted by LuchAAA on Thu Mar 13 23:35:14 2025 Some people worship graffiti culture and idolize the vandals. In 1984 I went to the Beat Street as soon as it came out. I wanted to have fun seeing locations, like Fresh Pond Yard, NYCTM, and all the different types of equipment. What lines were most vandalized? What yards and layups were most vandalized? I think the IRT was the worst. Probably the 2 and 5 trains took a beating. And they usually had full car, top-to-bottom spray paint jobs. I guess vandals knew 50ft cars needed less paint than 60ft and 75ft cars? The R27/30 cars seemed to be the worst in the B Division. Vandals knew about City Hall on Broadway BMT. Fresh Pond Yard was considered an easy target. One time we stopped a softball game while kids ran from the yard then under a fence to the baseball field to escape. Guess someone chased them. Graffiti is one thing I don't miss. |
