It is an anomaly how the newer the train, the more computer and technical systems that need to be serviced or ensured are working correctly and the more parts that could go wrong.

From my understanding, when software or computer-related issues need to be corrected on an NTT, an outside vendor (such as Staff directly from Kawasaki) has to come through and correct the issues, compared to an older tech where most issues are mechanical related and are able to be repaired in-house.

Overheard this from museum staff that a trainset of SMEEs is much easier to maintain than a trainset of NTTs.
