I never heard about any NYCT C/R losing his job over announcements like that. In the 1960s there was a C/R named Abe Steinberg who made rather colorful PA announcements on the Bway (#1) Lcl including rhymes like “137th St City College for better knowledge” And he was nicknamed “The poet laureate of the subways” making occasional TV appearances in full uniform with the blessing of the NYCTA. There was another C/R Harry Nugent who also worked the #1 and most likely was broken in by Abe Steinberg when new. He also made colorful announcement and was written about in local NY newspapers and suffered no negative repercussions from the NYCTA. I also recall a C/R who worked the R line who would announce the stations would mention to the passengers “Have a nice day and God bless you.” I personally referred to him as “Father Conductor” due to the religious reference.
