SEPTA really wasted this piece of infrastructure so they could build their tunnel. All of the former Reading diesel commuter trains stopped permanently as a result (to Reading, Newtown and Allentown/Bethlehem). And now the former route number system has been disposed of for a number of years.

A tunnel to NJ would have served better; there are lots of former commuter rails on the other side of the Delaware that are currently serving no passengers (used to terminate in Camden and connect to the Bridge Line, now part of PATCO); a number of them even used to be electrified.
