They went to die on the C line. First the GE R27's, then the Westinghouse R27's, then the Westinghouse R30's, finally the R30 Redbirds.I operated R27/30's on the D fairly often as I had picked jobs there and the B and C a few times on overtime. They were decent cars except the R27 GE's. Plenty of dead motors and motors "dropping out". Likely that's why they did the overhaul on the GE R30's to extend their life a bit. |
