There are such devices every 500-600 feet in the tunnels and outside of every station. I saw my first 12-9 at about 16 years of age riding to school. I can still remember the grimace on the guys face but the smell of burning flesh never leaves you. That said, after 30 years and responding to countless 12-9s, neither seems disturbing to me now. |
