The official uniform for both M/M and C/Rs was a dark blue long (four in hand) tie and a ligh blue shirt. The uniform in the photo seems to be the pinstripe to which I have often referred and according to an IND old timer was called “indigo pinstripe.” Although the thicker “hickory stripe” which is most often seen worn by mainline RR engineers was allowed, the pinstripe was the preferred uniform for B of T and NYCTA M/M although it seems that the hickory stripe overall was more popular among IRT M/M. |
