Re: 149th St-Grand Concourse renamed to 149th St-Hostos

Does the New York Times maintain the Times Square station? How about the NY Aquarium maintaining West 8th st? That's not really the point of a station name..

149th is the 4th or 5th closest stop to my home, and I'm probably going to get used to the name change pretty quickly. The current set up is not very user friendly.
- On the 2 and 5, there are multiple 149th st stops in a row (3av and GC)
- On the 4 and 5 there are multiple GC stops in a row
- Therefore, if you need to communicate instructions to someone you usually must say the full station name to disambiguate.
- Layered on to the previous point is the reality that all 3 of the above-mentioned stations frequently are a part of service changes, and 149-GC is a major transfer point. Having a one-word name to refer to the station will come in handy.
- Hostos itself is a reasonably large draw to the area around the station. Naming the station after a school that's right on top of the station seems well within station-naming conventions.
- There's also the matter of having a "Concourse Line" which runs on "Grand Concourse" which is somehow not involved in the two stops with GC in the name.

It's reasonable for things to change over time. 138-GC used to be named Mott Haven right? It's still in the tiling! I have old NY Central maps of MO that show Grand Concourse as Mott Street. Given enough time, I think it's reasonable for things to have their era and then pass along to time. Hostos has been in the area for 50+ years, perhaps this is its time to take the torch.
