At the time the post Chrystie version of the QB was created, I mentioned to someone in some degree of authority that the train was mislabeled since it ran exp in Manhattan and should be designated as simply a Q. He insisted that since the train was a lcl on the Brighton Line it should be labeled as a “local.” He also pointed out a vagary in the old BMT service patterns in which when the Brighton exps stopped running and the Brighton lcls operated via the bridge, they actually ran exp in Manhattan. It seems that the BMT had a different standard for naming their routes from the iND and when the 2 divisions merged, the TA ended up with a badly mixed alphabet soup. |
