This was taken on July 13th, 2012, before the northbound transfer opened. I would transfer there every day in both directions and check out the construction. The staircases down from the street and the transfer tunnel were built with the rest of the Bway/Laf station and had IND tiling, but were closed up for whatever reason and not used. The IRT platform was extended down Lafayette St right up to the building basement walls and then connected to the existing IND mezzanine. The mezzanine even still had the IND 5 bulb fixtures and I wish I had taken a few pics of that. All was reconstructed to what we see today. |
