Some AmEx cards have no foreign transaction fees, but others do (naturally the annual fees on such cards are among their highest). They do appear to give an exchange rate somewhere near the mid point.I used an Uber last Sunday in London - the local charge was GBP 50.56 and the USD charge on my statement is $61.86 for an exchange rate of 1.2235 -- which is almost exactly where the midpoint of the exchange spread was over the weekend. |
