All they had to do in the subway is add readers to the existing turnstiles - which they did. On buses they have added card readers by each farebox.Contactless debit and credit cards, smart phones (with online wallets) already work at these new readers (most of the times "I'm sorry,but I don't exactly feel comfortable with OMNI." Sorry to hear that but by 2024 (most likely), you won't have a choice. At some point during that year, expect the MetroCard to be phased out completely. "Where is the MTA Omni Vending machine?" My guess is that the machines are still being constructed and may be affected by various parts shortages or supply delivery delays. |
