It is an amazing hundred pages of photos and text, explaining well many places I have not visited.The first article is "Twilight of traditional trams in Britain and the France," by Clive Foss. The text and photos make an instructional story. It's too bad that the proofreaders stumbled on unlucky Page 13 with "Hill of Nowth" in bold print and east-west geography mixed up, Howth being east of Dublin when we rode a bruised bus there in 1977. -- The second article is a posthumous presentation by Ron Lee, "Railfanning around the British Isles by Cruise Ship." He and Lily gave us much impressive photography. In particular, I enjoyed the description of the Glasgow subway. I question the text on page 55, with both the 4000s and 5000s on the Red Line in Dublin. --- The third article is "East German Traction Eight Months after the Berlin Wall Fell," by Jeffrey Erlitz. I will certainly be glad to read it. --- Many thanks to Sandy Campbell and the staff for the work they poured into this excellent volume. |
