My advantage as a low seniority vacation relief M/M in 1969 was that most of the newer V/R M/M preferred SMEEs, so since I preferred R-9s, steels and Qs anyhow I was able to pick quite a few AM jobs with S/S off while some of the men just a few pegs above me preferred SMEEs even if the hours and days off weren’t as good. |
