All thanks to the re-opening of the lesser-used Chrystie branch between Essex and Bway-Lafayette, which allows Eastern division trains to go north, where formerly they had no choice but to terminate downtown or go south, like to Brighton or West End. That branch was OOS for years, longer than it had been in service with the KK, almost making it look like a waste, until the V was eliminated and the M took over. Out of that budget crunch and subsequent service reductions came one service improvement.
