We actually rode on an R-32 TT one day after my very first subway ride, which was on July 21, 1965. We went on the Circle Line on the morning of the 22nd (the very same as Transit Day at the World's Fair), and afterwards visited my father's cousin in Brooklyn, who lived just off the 71st Ave. station on the West End. I'm tempted to say we took an N back to Brooklyn and changed to a TT at 36th St. I vivdly remember the West End line. The previous evening, we were at my father's cousin's house and all evening long I heard trains pulling in and out of 71st St. Music to my ears. The seeds of my love affair with the NYC subway system had been planted. |
