The 6th Avenue line was a very expensive piece of construction due to the need to underpin the old elevated line and go over and under several other existing subway and railroad lines and one of the city's water tunnels.I wonder if it would've been less expensive for the IND to have built a subway down 5th Avenue or Madison Avenue instead. |
