The Second Servile War in Sicily was an insurrection; the rebels raised an army with the tanks and guns of the day which were horses and swords. They fought off the might of the Empire for several years, with tens of thousands dead including many Roman soldiers. That's an insurrection. The word is thousands of years old, preserving even its form from its Latin source insurrectionem Fascist refers to a system of direct and indirect State control of all aspects of society.
