I haven't been in it since they rehabbed it after Sandy, but prior to that it was timers all the way from Court St to the switch outside Manhattan. Then once the last timer cleared and the t/o could wrap it, you're going up hill, so there's never a chance to pick up any speed. (It's a completely different experience from the 50+mph 60th St tunnel, also BMT but these two tunnels sure ain't twins.) Perhaps in 1967 there were fewer timers going into Manhattan. |
