They could probably extended the platform in both directions to the respective streets or even over them.

Franklin Ave:

Probably could extend it to the south

Botanic Gardens is mostly underground, so I couldn't screen shot it, I guess the same could be done, after all, they used to be able to accomodate 4 60-foot cars.
