Looking SOUTH from the el at about 47th St and 3rd it would be on the right as it is in picture B, and it takes only half the block between Lex and 3rd.My office looked straight at that side of the building. I've got time lapse video of the building's shadow being cast on the PanAm/MetLife building. I'd have to look for it. You could only see it at the winter solstice for a few weeks before and after. The Chrysler Building is at 42nd and Lex but the building on the right of the photo is the former Daily News building at 220 East 42nd just west of Second Avenue. The apartment building at the northwest corner of 35th and Third in the photo still stands as shown in Google street. The white building at the end of the tracks is Manhattan House at 66th Street. As I wrote earlier, this view is north. |
