Excellent video, thank you very much for posting!!While the changes are very nice and very useful, I’m very sad at the antiseptic feel of the Times Square end. The old station was teeming with cues of the 1904 original station, from the ghostly Track 4 platform, to the ancient Knickerbocker door, to the sharp curve requiring gap fillers, to the open west end of the station that gave you a clear view of the original track configuration from nearly 120 years ago. Those are all gone now, replaced by acres of endless tiles. It’s very functional and very useful but also soulless and cold. The original 28 IRT stations were designed to be works of art. Obviously nothing lasts forever but I would have liked to see some cues honoring the station’s storied past. |
