Wow, I remember riding solo to my grandmother's house in ENY when I was still in elemetary school (age 9 or 10). Of course, this was in the late 60s. The usual scenario was that my school had an early release day, but my mother, who was a HS teacher had to work the whole day. I was attending PS 161 in Crown Heights, so I walk up 2 blocks to President St, get the 3 one stop to Franklin, cross over and get the 2 to Newlots (my grandmother lived close to the station). Of course at the RFW on the 2 :) I even got to see a GO where the s/b track was out of service west (north) of Junius. The 2 from Franklin would end at Utica, fumigate, then relay and head back north. Meanwhile, us geese were directed to the lower (northbound level) where a 2 would arrive. Changed ends and off we went southbound on the northbound (Track 4). Was weird to see it from that perspectve. At Junius, we'd crosssover to Track 1 (usually another 2 ould be waiting to head north, so probably only 2 trains were running the GO.
