Re: R-10's on the (N) ?

There were basically no retirements of the W.H. cars during the time of the GOH'd program (December 1984-February 1986), except when #3189 was taken off the road in 1984 to become an R.C.I. Yard Office Car in Pitkin Yard.

When the program was completed, there was still those ten W.H. active R-10's, as listed, that were not selected for the GOH'd program. Someone once claimed that the GOH'd program might have ended after only 100 cars were done, because of a parts shortage at the time, but somehow managed to get the 110 done as planned. 120 would have been an impossible feat.

After the purge of the first wave of R-10 retirements in 1983-1984, approximately at least 60 cars that went to the scrapline at Coney Island Yard, with some more of them disposed and cut up at Linden Yard, that was it for the time being. Anyway, the entire R-10 fleet was going to be on borrowed time, no doubt.
