I'm still not sold on the anti-open-gangway argument. The percentage of trains I see and ride that have a car isolated is so small that I'm willing to accept the loss of those trains for the sake of open-gangway. Same, by the way, goes for the odor complaint, though admittedly odors are a little more frequent. But if one asks oneself what percentage of their trips actually involve a car that is so bad that you see everyone running away from it, I still think that number is too small that it should be taken into account for design purposes. |
