My guess is that the wider doors are no more than just the results of searching for ways to make the new cars different. No way the milliseconds they may save in boarding time make up for the reduced seating (although worth mentioning that the removed seats were “middle seats” not near a dividing bar, these seats being the least popular ones anyway (many would rather stand than sit between two people without a divider. Seems now it is 5 people instead of 6 between most doorsets. |
