Moses did just the opposite - Van Wyck got built without a median to make sure the IND never got a branch onto it, even though the junction was built and now used for Archer subway. Pitting then-current needs of Bronx (with "those" people, without cars) against a highway need in Brooklyn that was 20 years into the future was a false choice. He was out to kill transit projects, any excuse would do. |
